This story came out of reading soulstar's rather brilliant fic Tigers on Vaseline which she posted yesterday. I got to thinking what if Gene takes all the evidence he has accumulated about Sam and comes up with a rather different theory?

Love the idea to bits and pieces!! Wonderful spin on Soulstar's story (which I also read and liked, so thank you for the rec too). And I liked Purgatory, but undercover? Brilliant. As for the rider at the end? That makes perfect sense too...

Thanks. I think soulstar's fic is the better one (hers has got more depth, mines just a scene) - but when I was betaring it for her, I got the idea to write this one.

I don't know about you, but I find I get a lot of ideas from reading other peoples fic and then talking about their ideas after wards. I did that with this fic. I can see why TV series often have teams of writers, because you can talk through ideas and then go away and put your own twist on it. There have been things I've missed about characters, that others have picked up on, that then sparks off ideas with me.

Thank you. I wanted to write something which showed how clever Gene was. So many stories have him as a someone who's just in love with Sam as their central plot device.

Thanks. There is one about the car somewhere - but since I wrote it I have actually been in the front seat of a real life Cortina - so I might get round to writing one some day. :o)
