Yeah. I'm looking covetously at my dad's old dilapidated unit with the massive 70s speakers and "surround sound" speakers (which were little better than transistor radio speakers, really) every time I visit the olds. I used to play my guitar through that amplifier through the phono jack, and nearly killed it on a few occasions...but it's still going strong.
They look small on the website.. but they're deep, made from wood and weigh about 10kg each.
The speakers sitting in our lounge room are chinese knockoffs I picked up for $100 off ebay, hooked up to a fairly pedestrian sherwood amp. They're decently tall, could be bigger, and while the sound definition is poor they're good for a little bit of oomph. Fine for listening to music, TV, etc.
Every so often I'm tempted to go a bit further, but down that path lies snake oil and douchebaggery.
Johnnycashjohnnycashjohnnycaaaaaash. He sounds delicious any time, but he really was made for vinyl.
(I admit to be uneducated in the art of sound making, and have gne digital vs vinyl, but still take great pleasure in a system large enough that you can actually feel the waves washing over you.)

I'm not tech savvy enough to know how that would work...but I have a feeling it'd be a poor substitute for the real thing.
