Wow...

OK, I stayed away from the band Dissection for so long, because they're always associated with that dreaded term "melodic" mixed in with "black" and "death" metal. I'm usually not a fan of black metal unless it's first wave or mixed with thrash or death metal (no, I never "got" Darkthrone, and continue to not do so), and I certainly can't stand ( Read more... )

anti-everything-other-people-like, music, sanctimonious so-and-so, so very kvlt and tr00!, amateurish reviewing, boring shit no one will read, bands that suck arse, the gods made heavy metal

Dissection: YES. The Somberlain is incredible, though Storm of the Light's Bane is the preferred album for whatever reason. Stay away from Reinkaos, but the others are magnificent.

Emperor: NO. Anything by Ihsahn is brilliant, stfu. (That was as friendly as a stfu can be, by the way.)

In Flames: When I saw them live, they specifically avoided playing older stuff. So the "you like to suck" sounds about right.

To be honest, I've only listened to Anthems... and angL. The latter bored the utter crap out of me, and the former frustrated me because of the overuse of the fucking keyboards. And yeah, I know it's symphonic, but so's Nightwish, and I hate them too. :P

But yes. Next on the list is Storm.... I've listened to Somberlain about three times today - it's just magnificent. How come it's always the most talented artists who die early and in a somewhat strange manner???

I know... Jon's death and Valfar's death both make me angry on a weekly basis.

After listening to Reinkaos you don't exactly miss him. But The Somberlain is fucking awesome and Storm of the Light's Bane is even better.

You don't know me aside from perhaps seeing me comment periodically on Bjorn's journal (although that headbanging skeleton looks familiar so I might have known you from the old days of metal_community) but I just wanted to say that I am very, very, very happy for you for having heard Dissection for the first time. Nice tags, especially "the gods made heavy metal" and "anti-everything-other-people-like", hee hee. Now go out and get Storm of the Light's Bane / Where Dead Angels Lie and several more clean changes of pants.

Sorry I took a while to reply to this!

I don't think you could've seen me in metal_community, as I've never been a member there.

Anyway, you were right. I needed to burn underwear after listening to Storm... ;) Seriously, though, I think I prefer The Somberlain just slightly, although listening to something for the first time that I love generally tends to skew my opinion.

Glad you like my tags, too. I seem to be using the "anti-everything-other-people-like" one a lot these days!

Hope you don't mind if I friend you. Ill even do the colour thingy... ;)
