Re: Climate change and the fact that Senator Steve Fielding is an Utter Moron (TM)

I just sent the following email to Steve Fielding's email address, regarding his "extremely well-informed decision" (there's a reason that this is in quotations) to block the government's emissions trading scheme.

Dear Steve... )

Very amusing letter, and correct in many ways (it'll probably go into the junk pile for the misspelling of "heel" =P).

You know what's even funnier? I realised later that I'd sent the email with a typo in the subject line ("chang" instead of "change")....

Yep. Heel. That horrible place where I'll spend eternity.

Obviously this is a bizarre and distasteful Australian comedian you're talking about, right? Right?

(I shouldn't mock, we're going to get just as bad in the next election).

Hear, hear!

And the phrase "junk science" burns my already-traumatised gut.

You need to send it to the papers. Maybe the news. I have no idea about what is going on in Australian politics (or Canadian politics for that matter), but that is an awesome, well thought out letter.

Nah, it's basically an insulting email. It doesn't really address anything in a worthwhile fashion - it was basically me venting. But thanks!

Oh, and it's good to hear from you, Nyk. I thought you'd dropped off the face of the earth.

If you wrote this out by hand, it would be about a billion times more effective, and might actually make it to his desk. A handwritten letter concerning a certain issue is equivalent in political clout to about a hundred signatures on a petition, at least in the States.

But this is funnier more than anything else, really.
