A Tale of Two Movies

WALL-E

Easily one of the best Pixar movies to date. It was cute, funny, heart-rending, and the animation was absolutely superb. However, it's probably not one that I'll happily watch over and over again, like Shrek or Monsters Inc. It's very plot heavy - I wonder how kids actually follow it. Then again, I remember that they probably don't - they ( Read more... )

I wanted to take Rosie to see Wall-E as an excuse, but failed, and now it's not on. Maybe I'll get her the DVD and 'borrow' it (it works for lego...)

You "borrow" your daughter's lego?? ;) Actually, I can see why. I haven't messed around with lego in ages.

Dude, fuck you and your 'boring shit no one will read.'

Fucking Wall-E was amazing, aside from being pukeworthily cute, it was sooo funny.

Though I highly reccommend watching under the influence of pot. Though booze might be great too.

I just like throwing in random tags sometimes. ;)

The last movie I watched under the influence of something stronger than alcohol was The Princess Bride. ANd it FREAKED ME THE FUCK OUT.

I thought the same thing about Wall-E, that no child would ever catch the actual plot. But I figure that the actual plot was to appeal to the adults, and the animation and such would appeal to the children (so the parents aren't bored out of their minds). I loved it.

That's the great thing about Pixar movies - they work on multiple levels. Recent ones have been a bit too satirical and referential to pop culture sometimes (and I thought Cars downright sucked sweaty monkeys' balls), but this one managed to balance satire and a dire warning with the Oh My Fucking God How Cute Is That Ridiculous Little Droid! factor. I really didn't think I'd enjoy it as much as I did, especially as there was no dialogue until at least halfway into the movie.
