[Question] Magic knight Rayearth omnibus

Sorry if it doesn't belong here, but I have no idea where else to ask: does omnibus edition of MKR have Japanese sound effects just translated (like in omnibus CCS) or completely replaced? I'm thinking of buying those editions, but I want to be able to see original sound effects. Also, are they any weird names translations, like Oruha -> Ora in ( Read more... )

The Tokyopop omnibus has a combination - the Japanese effects are retained, but there's also an English text addition near them to translate. The name translations seem pretty standard - I don't recall seeing any weird switches or anything like that.

If there are other omnibus editions out, I can't speak for them, unfortunately.

Tokyopop? I didn't know they have released it in omnibus format - I thought only available omnibus edition is Dark Horse's.

Yes, they released the first arc in omnibus edition and had plans for the second one. I don't think they got to it before Dark Horse took over, though. Unfortunately, that's the only one I have, so I'm not sure if Dark Horse will use a different translation or anything. I think they just used what was there for Clover, though?

Nope, the translation is noticeably different in Clover, I compared my omnibus with old Tokyopop scan I have.

The Dark Horse Rayearth omnibus has Japanese sound effects with translations to the side.

Oruha is called Ora in the Dark Horse Clover omnibus.

Any other questions? I'd be happy to answer them. :)
