We will need one graphic designer for our
Happy 20th Anniversary •CLAMP• Appreciation Fanbook Project.
I was going to post later, but my helpful editors informed me that many of you might want the guidelines earlier. :)
Here are the details of how we will choose our fanbook's graphic
designer:
1. Create a sample splash page. (Each country will have a separate
chapter and will have a splash page). You can submit up to 2 separate
entries. Each will be judged separately.
2. The page will be 10x8 inches (25x20 cm) landscape. Your sample
entry can be submitted in jpg or png format and any file size, but
must fit the landscape dimensions. It must be big enough to see any
detail.
3. There will already be an image created for each country's splash
page. Your job is to design a page around the image; font, borders,
colors, etc. You are NOT creating the image, but you have the freedom
to crop or move the image around the page. Leave a blank rectangle for the image.
4. Things to consider.
-Do not use pre-existing graphics. All graphics (logos, decorative
items) must be original and created by you. That means NO images taken
from CLAMP or CLAMP's works.
-The image will differ for each country, so make your design
flexible.
-Each page will need the country's name and page number. (Consider
using the country's name in english, japanese and/or the native
language)
-The book will be full of artwork and text. The splash should serve as
a simple visual resting place, so the reader can clearly see what is
coming up; remember that 'Less is More'.
5. The graphic designer will be responsible for graphics work for the
whole book (font style, table of contents, credit page, more than 40
splash pages, etc). They will not do anything to the fanwork. They
must have the time to work on this project in March/April.
6. The entries should be sent to me (seichan80 at gmail dawt com) and
put in the subject line - "Your name - Graphic Designer entry".
Please include a contact email, so that I may reach you.
The deadline is February 15th.
7. The judging process will be as follows. All entries will be
narrowed down to the top five entries by me. The other 20+ editors will rate
these five for quality and usability. None of the editors will know
who did what entry. The person with the highest average score will be
the graphic designer. (Editors who enter will not be able to rate
themselves).
8. Here are quick, generic, example splash pages with sample images.
(These are examples only, so please excuse the blurry photo and bad font). The
final images on the splash will be simple still-life photos of a
couple items that represent a country and an item representing CLAMP.

9. There will be a cover design competition in a few weeks. The winner
of that will work with the graphics person to ensure that the cover
matches the interior. The whole community will be able to participate
in picking the cover design. Again, anyone can enter the cover design
competition, too...including the editors and the winner of the graphic
designer contest.
The next fanbook update will be February 21st and will cover the cover design competition.
