Everyone I know who's done a home birth has been really happy with the experience. I am keeping the option on file for myself in the event that I ever decide to have a baby.

Thank you for posting this, I read through it all (wincing in parts I admit) and its' comforted and scared me in equal parts! If all goes well, I'm still hoping to be pregnant within the next 5 years, although I need to see if I have a marriage first, so reading this was very interesting.
It upsets me greatly to think that the best care was through having to spend money - this upsets me mainly as I don't have spare money or any savings, so wouldn't have that choice unless a new job comes through in the next year. But knowing about options I didn't know about before I read your post was valuable.
*hugs*

Thanks for posting your birth story. Having read it I was in general very happy with the care that Edward and I recieved. My main criticism would be that I would have liked to have had less midwives seeing me but given that midwives are human and have holidays too I appreciate the need for cover.
I did think of a home birth and did some research but I thought that in this instance a hospital birth had some advantages - everything is on hand and you do not need to prepare stuff at home so much in advance. Have said that I would like a home birth whenever Edward's sibling comes along.
