Unconventional - ft Chanyeol/Kai/Luhan (ChanLuKai)
This ended up waaaay longer than expected, and is taking longer to write, so I'm posting it in parts. I'm not sure whether to apologise or not.
Also, I improvised with the title - my mind went blank. Since it isn't finished yet, I'm putting a WIP (work in progress) tag on it, so I'll probably be editing it. Maybe.

Title: Unconventional

Characters: Chanyeol/Kai/Luhan very brief mention of a couple of other Exo members
Genre: I don't have a clue. Smut, maybe romance, hopefully a touch of comedy, but I'm not that funny.
Length: Oneshot broken into parts, unknown word count till finished.
Description: It's a three-way relationship and all of their friends wonder how they make it work when all of them are so different from each other.
Another warning, since I'm not sure about the whole rating thing and how it works. If we were going off the UK things I'm used to, this would be an 18 - adults only. I'm fairly sure thats NC-17, or R, either one, I dunno. Though this one is tame, basically, there be smut in future parts of this, and I'm not responsible if youngins ignore the warnings and read unsuitable stuff. We Good? Good.
Their relationship is unconventional, in more ways than one. They accept that. They accept that when they walk down the street, hand in hand in hand, they will receive strange looks. They make it work for them though, and that's all that matters.
What Kai cannot accept, however, is the horrible affront to all good taste hanging above the place he sleeps.
"LUHAAAAAN!" He hears the snicker and stomps into the living room, seeing Luhan is stood behind the sofa where Chanyeol is laughing at the TV.
"Take it down before I tear it down!"
"No! We agreed!"
"We did not! You made that bet all on your own and I never took you up on it!"
"Oh! You soooo did! We won the league so I get to keep that up for the season!"
"There is no way I'm sleeping under that piece of crap!"
"Then stay out of the bedroom!"
"Yah, both of you shut up! I'm watching this!"
Luhan and Kai stare at each other before, almost in sync, jumping on the sofa either side of Chanyeol and pull on his arms.
"Yeollie...you know you don't want that up there either."
"Channie, but it was a bet...we agree if United won I could put it up"
"New rule! No football crap in the bedroom."
"Channie!"
"Yes! I knew he'd take my side."
"That includes your Chelsea scarves on the wardrobe, Kai."
"WHAT?"
"HA!"
"Shut up, deer."
"You shut up, at least my team wins stuff."
"You're not doing well this season though, you suck with your new manager."
"Hey, it's hard to follow the greatest manager ever."
Kai just blows a raspberry and argues back. Chanyeol shakes his head and sinks lower into the sofa, flicks the subtitles on and hopes football season is over soon, despite it only just starting again.
Most of their friends are surprised the three of them have lasted. They're all different. Luhan, originally from Beijing, is the oldest, and yet sometimes acts like more of a child than either of the others. He can be a bit diva-ish, belying his almost deer-like innocent face. And though his skill with the Rubiks cube is surprising, they never let his hands on anything to do with cooking. The last fire destroyed the cooker, and the deposit on the apartment - his clumsiness is adorable.
Kai, on the other hand, is the youngest. He loves to dance, no matter where he is and often ends up boogying around with Luhan when they're grocery shopping - making Luhan drop whatever he's holding. He has an undeniable sex appeal, but there are insecurities there which the others understand and help him with. When he's not looking like he's half asleep, he's cute, smiling and happy like a puppy, clinging onto his hyungs, but can be quite reserved with his true feelings - unlike Chanyeol, who is always open and smiling.
While his baby face matches Luhan, and is probably just as childlike at times, Chanyeol has a deep voice, which makes the others grin to hear it. Chanyeol is always happy, playing on his guitar, or dragging them to Hongdae for food and music. An entire corner of the living area is devoted to his musical instruments and sheet music. He's sweet, and cute in his love, romantic and always positive.
None of them can really remember how they ended up with all three of them together, but they don't really care how it started, only that they're happy now.
Having three people in a relationship has its own challenges. Everyone needs their own special time, one-on-one time together, no arguments over who gets to date who...they sort it out, and they make it work.
Honesty is the key. If Kai wants to screw Chanyeol, he'll ask for it. If Luhan wants a date with Kai, all he has to do is say so. If Chanyeol wants time to himself to compose, he shoos them out on a date and gets to work. Everyone gets equal attention and they're fine with it....well...equal up to a point... Chanyeol ALWAYS bottoms. He prefers it that way, the other two prefer it that way, so everyone is happy. Occasionally when all three are together, Luhan and Kai take turns in being in the middle, but only when they want to mix it up a little.
Today they decide to go on a date. All three of them are going shopping (Luhan's choice), then the cinema (Kai's choice of film) and then spend the evening wandering around Hongdae listening to the street performers and eating food (Chanyeol's choice).
Suho once asked Luhan who he loved best. The answer was simple: Both of them. He told the curious guy that he loved each man just as much as the other, but not the same - in different ways. Between them both they filled up his heart and his life and he was happy. Suho had smiled and nodded. He said that though he couldn't understand himself, he was very glad that Luhan was content and he wished them happiness. Luhan had hugged Suho and made the smaller man blush.
Stumbling through the apartment door later that night, Luhan knows all three of them have had too much to drink, but he doesn't care. He drops his shopping bags on the sofa, figuring he'll unpack tomorrow and lets himself be pulled through to the bedroom with a sloppy grin.
They take turns undressing each other with quiet giggles and fall onto the bed in a tangle of limbs, struggling for a few minutes as they fight to pull the duvet out from under the three of them. Chanyeol falls asleep first, lay on his back in the middle of the pillows, making snuffling noises, with a smile on his face. Luhan and Kai share a look at the other's sleep noises and laugh, snuggling up on either side of Chanyeol, falling asleep pressed against his warmth. All three pairs of legs tangle and Luhan and Kai's hands clasp together over Chanyeol's chest.
Whoever said three's a crowd clearly didn't know what they were talking about.
