The week leading up to his birthday was not a good one for Hanataro. He knew that the first chance someone got, they would prank him. When he was little someone told him that the bathrooms were all closed and they had to go outside. Of course he believed them and ended up in the principals office for using a ficus as a toilet. But that was a very long time ago and Hana was smarter. But bad luck always befell him every year on his birthday

The scent of cookies and coffee permeated the air when the boys hugged. Kensou was still unknowingly wearing his apron, so the combined smells made his stomach growl. "I'm sorry I couldn't be around on your special day. I had to cover for a sick co-worker. But to make it up to you..." Kenny pulled away long enough to reach into his backpack.

He pulled out two rather expensive-looking cookbooks. One was dedicated to San Francisco's cuisine, and the other was all desserts. "Happy belated birthday, Hana."

"It's ok," Hana mumbled, shaking his head and looking up at him. "I understand..." He trailed off and cocked his head to the side while the other searched his backpack. His eyes went wide when he saw the cookbooks. These weren't just any normal cookbooks... Hanataro had seen them before but at the time couldn't get them.

"Th-thank you... wow... I mean... wow..." Frankly right now he was speachless.
