Who: Coach Zaraki, Ryoko Mitsurugi, Zero Wily, Ikkaku Madarame, Toshirou Hitsugaya, and all Wanna Be Kendo Team Members When: Friday after school (BACKDATED) Where: School Main Gym What: Tryouts for the 5th Member
Saya sat there nervously, fidgeting with her sleeves. She'd done some kendo back home but wasn't very good (track was where her skills were), or at least she didn't think she was very good. She had no intentions of going first, she'd rather watch for the time being. She was only here because Kai insisted she try out, to help her make friends, he'd said.
It had been awhile since Toshirou had bothered practicing anything but his music, but he hadn't let his skills go completely to waste. He had been honing them after school in the gym for days at a time just in preparation for this. He didn't want to be a disappointment, after all. He stepped up to Saya, smiling a little bit.
"I guess you'll be my opponent? Not interested in going first, if you'd rather wait," he said coolly with a shrug.
Saya smiled back, a smile that was both shy and nervous. "Yes, I'd rather wait. Its been a while since I have done any kendo." she nodded and waited for the first match to begin and end.
It seemed like everyone else was hesitant to step up to go first, at least to Kamina. He was ready to jump into this head first, after all he had been training most of the month preparing for this day.
He stepped up with a loud stomp which echoed across the gym, setting all eyes on him. "ALRIGHT! People of the kendo team prepare yourselves! Burninating the countryside the fire storm known as Kamino Kamina has arrived!" His introduction definitely had it's flair, but whether it had the desired effect on his audience was another story entirely.
Ikkaku looked over from the sidelines. Well, well... wasnt this guy a piece of work. He tapped the kendo sword over one shoulder and walked over. "Hey. Fire storm. How about you stop being a damn show off. This isnt a fucking game." He grinned at him, tossing over a second kendo sword he held in his right hand. "Tell me you know how to fight a little, otherwise this is going to be hella embarrassing for you."
Ikkaku was incredibly skilled, but if this kid was able to keep up just a little... well, then. Maybe he had a spot in the kendo team. Who knew. It was all up to Zaraki.
This guy looked strong, but that wasn't a problem for him it just made things more interesting, hell he was ready for anything that day, even facing off against the coach himself!
He caught the incoming sword with ease as he stared down his opponent. "Game? Who the hell do you think I am? I didn't come here to play pickup sticks here!" giving it a couple of warm up swings before giving it a short one handed twirl then grasping it at the ready with both hands.
He wasn't expecting it to be this...light? But anything would be in comparison to training with a real sword, since that was all he had to work with. "Now lets do this baldie!" he said with an ecstatic grin across his face. Win or lose this was going to be one hell of a duel, but he wasn't planning on losing from the git go.
Baldy??? Ikkaku's eyebrow twitched. And then... a wide sadistic smile spread across his face. "Oh... big mistake, kid. Big. Fucking. Mistake." He was thinking of going easy on him at first... you know, test him out, work him up to the point where Zaraki had a chance to see all he was capable of doing.
But no.
He wasnt going to do that for him. Not now. His ass was going to be on the ground faster than a blink of an eye. It didnt fucking matter how confident his ass was. He placed both hands on the handle and nodded, his face becoming serious and his eyes full of focus and intimidation. He got into stance. "Go ahead."
Intensely emberassed by Kamina's display, Karen snuck in and passed him, a shinai in a case on her shoulder. She found an unused space and sat in seiza, waiting her turn.
A tall and lanky student meandered into the main gym. His clothes were loose and baggy, as it was hard to really find anything for him to wear. Upon his shoulder was his bookbag, filled with a few text books and an mp3 player. Small rose tinted shades rested upon his nose and silvery hair was tied behind in a loose ponytail.
Dynamo had made his appearance. It wasn't out of duty, or curiosity this time. In fact, the only reason he bothered to show up was for the simple reason the student was bored. He wasn't about ready to wave a stick around and look like some moron, instead he had hoped his other classmates would do the duty for him.
Zero stared, watching as the hopefuls poured into the gym. Kamina looked like a retard trying to fight Ikkaku, and he allowed himself a good laugh at the kid's expense. He at least had the heart, but his skill...
His thoughts meandered off as he noticed the tall, lanky silver-haired student make his way in. Immediately, he was standing, a bokken in each hand. He strode across to Dynamo, his face stone-set.
"Hm." He didn't know what the game was here, nor did he care. If Dy had come to the tryouts, wandering in amongst the potential teammates, he might as well be put to the test. "Guess it's somebody's lucky day," he said humorlessly. Not even waiting for a response, he held out a weapon to Dy. "Let's see what you've got."
He blinked as he noticed a figure walking toward him. His lip curled into a slight sneer, and he was about to make a snarky reply before he was cut off by Zero's statement. He took the weapon in his hand and looked it over.
He still had his book bag draped over his shoulder, and he scoffed down at Zero.
"You realize I don't know the first thing about this kendo, don't you?" He seemed rather disgusted at the fact Zero would try to make him look like a fool.
"Then I guess you'll either shock the shit outta both of us, or get trounced. Either way, this is a serious measure of skill." He smirked up at Dynamo. "So, let's begin." Professionalism took over as he stepped backwards onto the mat. "When you make a touch, call it. The entire body is a valid target area, but stay clear of vulnerable points like the face and groin." He drew into a loose, but proper stance, legs at the width of his shoulders, with the sword in front of him grasped firmly in both hands.
Hiyori arrived, just in time to hear Kamina blow out hot air. She rolled her eyes. "Give me a freaking break. What an idiot." She muttered, more to herself. She rolled up the sleeves to her jacket. Might as well get this over with. It wasnt like she didnt have a lot of aggression to let out
