Hello out there in Clairbourn High School land.

Apparently my parents just now decided to reinstate my access to the student network.

After almost an entire year.

Go adulthood.

GERT, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?

In regards to the online world? Dead.

But otherwise, just chained to my desk. You're going to have to re-educate me on this thing you call the 'modern world.'

Would you prefer a set of audio CDs or the DVD?

I was getting worried since you weren't even answering my texts the past few weeks.

I don't comprehend your strange technological anagrams.

Yeah, they pretty much took every connection to the worldwide communication networks. But hey, my grades are more impressive than twenty-ton weights hitting the ground. So... yay?

Dang's definitely a word for it.

You don't think it was intentional? Folks can be mighty fussy like that.

Oh, the cutting off of my computer was intentional. My parents fuss about everything that might make me a stereotypically productive member of society.

That sucks. It's kinda like what happened to me, except for not as long and Grandma didn't ban me from the internet, just made me study constantly.

...Okay so it's not really that much like your situation, but I think I know where you're coming from. It's like you aren't really at Clairbourn if you aren't on the network, even when you're still coming to school.

Where was I going with this again?

So... welcome back I guess?

You hit the nail on the head. I'm not exactly a social butterfly (always preferred the term 'shut-in moth' myself), so being cut off from the network was pretty much the death knell of my interpersonal life.

But hey, those are overrated anyway.

It works here. Thanks.

You actually missed this thing?

I can't say I missed it all that much, but keeping up on the daily mistakes of my fellow students has its charm. It's a good reminder why I'm not addicted to heroin, pregnant, boning a teacher, afflicted with some form of venereal disease, and working a dead-end job.

Thanks to the network, I can live out those fantasies without ever leaving the safety of my room.

I know, right? Lose your computer and it's like you don't exist any more.
