Erm...The Harry Potter Maxicon?

Apr 28, 2008 23:09

I heard that a link to this website was posted on The Leaky Cauldron earlier today. Its intention is obviously mean-spirited ("How does it feel, Steve?"), aside from the copyright issue of exactly reproducing parts of the Lexicon. (I'm not certain it reproduces the entire Lexicon, since many of the links seem not to work ( Read more... )

harry potter, copyright infringement, the harry potter lexicon

Good Sleuthing, Clair! I know that is your specialty.

What a pathetic and mean thing to do. That's probably someone who's never worked on anything worthwhile in their entire life, but they like to tear down other people's ideas. Stupid jerk.

I also took a few screencaps of those posts in case they disappear. Too bad about the AuburnPub link because I can't get it to stay open.

There doesn't seem to any end to the childish ways fans seek to involve themselves in this court case. It is almost impossible to ignore the desire to ruin this man because he did not and could not lay down as Mugglenet did. New lines are crossed everyday. This is terribly sad.

You can add LL's "davidenglish" to the list of somebodies pinting to that webpage: he just wrote over at LL:
"

The HP-Lexicon website appears to be down. (500-Internal Server Error)

But someone has done a spoof website, The Harry Potter Maxicon. Or is it a hijack?

Well, it doesn't surprise me that he would post that - anything for excitement over there.

I am wondering why the HP Lexicon server is down, though, at the same time this Maxicon clone appeared. That worries me a litt.e

I'd guess it's just a real innocent technical problem. If you move (or delete) something that should result in a 404 or 301 or 307 or 409.

"Access denied" should result in 401 or 403.

I went to mcrux's LiveJournal page. URL here:

This is not a young kid. This person is 48 years old and really needs to get a life if this is how they get their kicks.

If this is a hack, I really and truly hope they go to jail.

Hmm, hi, Anonymous . . . well, as you see, that LJ has only been set up for about four days, and the only friends are Livejournal Maintenance.

The first LJ message is on April 24, not long before all this started.

So it's probably what they call a "sockpuppet" account. That's not a real person, and probably a made-up birthday. So you can't judge from that how old a person really is - funny that they are exactly as old as the Marauders (I was also born in 1960). That could be their joke about Sirius Black's unknown birthday for all we know.
