Some interesting technology news:

Jaguar C-X75
Jaguar showed off the C-X75 concept car at the Paris Auto Show. It's a really interesting hybrid: there's a 145kW electric motor on each wheel, so 580kW in total, powered by batteries and/or a pair of gas turbine engines that spin up to 80000rpm. On battery only, the car has a 110km range, but in ( Read more... )

The Playbook does look awesome, but I think its a really shame they are not allowing it to tether with outer phones... All they seem to want to do is cater for only those people who already have a blackberry, and I can't imagine the device being very useful without a blackberry.

Oh and awesome car, pity its a Jag :P

It wasn't clear if it'll have the option of a 3G module, but I imagine it will, and that's make it no less functional than any other tablet. With the BlackBerry link, though, it's a huge advantage for existing BlackBerry owners.

Hey, what's wrong with Jags?

The turbines charge a battery pack; that's a lot more efficient, I reckon.

I don't know about the steering; I would imagine it's drive by wire, but that's just a guess.

One suspicious thing about the Playbook is that they didn't demo it at the show, unlike Apple with the iPad intro... so, maybe the thing works, maybe it doesn't. Maybe performance is awful (we only saw a canned video), we just don't know.

We'll see when it releases, I guess!

My guess is there was no demo because it's a very early announcement; I think it'll only be out early next year.

I'll bet performance will be good though: dual-core CPU, combined with the QNX OS.
