10 Things...

Feb 28, 2007 22:51

This is too much fun to not pipe up. Plus, I'm in training this week, so my work and sleep schedules are a little more relaxed... Here are 10 things that I've done (or at least experienced) that I don't think you have - please correct me if I'm wrong...
  1. Worked a "grinder" on an America's Cup Yacht
  2. Been teargassed (not recommended)
  3. Ran a marathon
  4. Read more... )

Yeah, I should've realized that teargassing and cold weather survival weren't all that unique.

Unless you were racing in the cup at the time, I can claim number 1 as well. We did one of those excursions where your groups divides into teams and races retired America's Cup yachts. I worked the grinder, proffy too.

And I thought that was something only crazy rich investment funds did with their employees...

It's an extremely common shore-excursion on Carribean cruises. It was quite a lot of fun, really, especially since by that day of the cruise I was going slightly nuts from lack of real exercise.

#8 I'm close, but not quite...
I slept in an ice iglo in -10 degree weather (-30 with the wind chill)

The inside of my bivy bag had enough ice by morning that it might have counted as an igloo...

Yes, but did you have fun?

It doesn't have to be fun, to be "fun" - Right?

2,3,7,8

I did not finish a marathon though, so that's probably a disqual, and I had help for #7.

Help on the GM piece can have a big effect. Cutting your workload dramatically, or effectively giving you a 13th player...

I should've remembered the marathon, and I definitely should've assumed the tear gas...

Heck, I can even raise (most) people on the tear gas:
I've been gassed because of my job, and I've been gassed for defintiely not my job.

And I was only gassed for my education (or edification, I can't remember which).

So how did you manage to get access into the Notch? I thought it was locked up tightly once Amherst college owned it.
