i think i just had corrupt internet files. messengers work but it jammed whenever explorer opened. i just went through and deleted the hell out of all the 'strange' programs and files on my computer. basically, any real amount of effort would have fixed this problem a week or so ago when it occured, but I'm a lazy bum when it comes to repairing my machine.
