lay offs at work

Today started off as any other normal Friday...got into work, settled in, emailed, the usual. Then the leads tell us that there's going to be a company meeting--not sure what it was about, where it was or when it would be, but just to make sure we all had our lunches by 1:45pm. Everyone starts to speculate what it might be--most obvious being laid

I survived the 2 big ones and 3 little ones (at the dpt I worked at) before I quit. :)

Geesh, that's just too much pressure to deal with! Who wants to go to work everyday wondering if they still have a job?

Wow, that's scary. I fear that will happen where I work as well, I'm especially worried now that we are buying a house. But, as TJ said, you can't live in fear of what "might" happen. Live for today, and worry about those other things when as come.

You're right though, all you can do is look ahead and hope.

Yeah and hopefully the market picks up...someone said the feds were thinking about cutting the interest rate so we'll see!

How did they decide on who they would let go?

Yeah, that's how it usually is. Then you start putting down the worst card you have and it can be really funny. Whenever it is my turn to pick, people are always really nervous because I tend to be unpredictable. One time I said Bingo was more dangerous than a wood chipper and everyone got all worked up..haha!

Oh, I also hate the people cards and the decade cards.

Yeah, work was really tense so afterwards, everyone just let loose!

Wow sounds like a crazy day at work! At least you still have your job, but that totally sucks for the other people. That's like how jobs are around here, there aren't any, our economy sucks right now!

Yeah, it was even worse for title/insurance companies that laid off like 20%...
