LET'S DO THIS.

Beneath the shade of a large, leafy tree Peter stretched out. His sleeves rolled to his elbows, ends of his shirt untucked, and a lazy air about him, he was the very picture of relaxation. The summer heat was more than he had been expecting, and Peter was enjoying every moment of it. It was the perfect sort of day for laying around, not doing very ( Read more... )

{{ Edmund approaches from the practice grounds, tired and sweaty from an intense sparring match. Of course, he had won, but the fight had gone on for quite a while.

When he sees Peter lying around, just relaxing, he crosses his arms, giving him a pointed look. }} Aren't you supposed to be... doing something?

[ For a moment Peter doesn't turn to look at Edmund, continuing to watch the leaves flutter in the soft breeze. He's sure there is something he ought to be doing, or some adviser who would like to have a word with him - but there were no wars to be waged, no treaties needing attention, and no noblemen to entertain. Whatever it was could wait a little longer.

When he did turn to look at his brother, he couldn't stop the teasing grin. ]

You look as though you've been doing enough for the both of us, Edmund.

Oh, very funny, High King the Magnificent. {{ Edmund rolls his eyes and collapses next to Peter, leaning against the tree as well. }} You could stand to do a little sparring as well, I think. It doesn't look good if King the Just can take you without breaking a sweat.

I, my good brother, am taking a well deserved rest.

[ Peter budges over a bit to make room in the more densely shaded spot on the grass. ]

But if you'd much rather try and take me, then by all means, I could fetch my sword. Though, I dare say it is a bit late for you to do with without breaking a sweat. [ He doesn't even bother to smother the teasing grin still on his face as he says it, knowing very well just by the sight of him that Edmund is in no shape to go at it. ]

[ It doesn't surprise Peter to see Lucy slightly grubby; he can only imagine what sort of things she's been up to. ]

Hullo Lu, looks like you found me. [ For a moment the thinks of trying to avoid Susan, in hopes of saying in the sun longer, but something tells him he wouldn't get away with it so easily if he tried. ]

What's Su looking for me for?

[ His face falls and he sits up abruptly. ]

The ambassador. Oh, don't tell me that was today. He isn't here yet, is he?

[ He doesn't even bother to look over at Edmund. He's rather comfortable where he is, thank you very much, and he'd like to keep it that way. ]

Completely.

[Edmund distinctly remembers there being at least seven very high priority papers in need of signing sitting on His Majesty's desk. When pestered by an adviser, he had sought Peter out in every nook and cranny at Cair Paravel and now... and now he dismounts the dapple gray mare and refrains from throwing anything at Peter's face.]

Does the High King wish for anything, some warm milk perhaps?

[ Oh, Edmund doesn't sound very pleased with him. Had he been looking at Edmund, he'd have that confirmed, but there happened to be some very interesting leaves above him in the tree.. At least they must have been, by how resolute Peter was in looking at them instead of Edmund. ]

Do you remember it being this hot last summer, Edmund?

[ Deflecting? With everything he's got. He hasn't been outside in ages, and he had made up his mind when he left Cair earlier that day that those papers could stand to wait just a bit longer. ]
