Which did you watch? I've only seen the old 50's Tess film, it was so-so.

Hahah, I haven't read the book yet, but I think I'm going to have to now, even though it seems kind of awful. Poor Tess is right, she just can't catch a break!

I'm glad you liked the commentary too, haha, I sort of bastardize every book I read like, especially "classics."

I watched the Masterpiece Theatre film on PBS, it was pretty good. Granted, I don't really know if it's close to the book, but I was watching it with a friend and her mom (who's read the book) and she thought it stayed true.
