A Comic for New Players

Apr 24, 2011 08:09

Last month, I finished this comic for new players which is meant to be a kind of introduction to the game world of CoH - although I recently had to do a little tweaking of a couple of panels to remove visual references to certain other games to make it acceptable for it to be mentioned on the official Facebook pages and Twitter feed - so I'm sure ( Read more... )

It looks interesting - but your font is a bit small and hard to read.

Do you mean the font for this cover psoted here, or the font for the full comic at DA? Because there you just need to click on the pages at DA to get them to their full size - all of them are 1800x2400, and should easily fill the screen on most monitors.
Once you've clicked to make a page larger, you can also use the "Next" button at the top of the image to move to the next one, which should also display in the largest version, so you should only need to click to enlarge once.

I meant the font for the full comic at DA, seen at full screen size on my monitor.

That's weird - it's just a normal comic style font that I'm using.

Definitely got some chuckles out of that :)

But at the end this thought popped into my head:

"He's level 1... she's level 50... he got no XP for any of that!"

Super sidekicking means she was dropped down to level 1, with powers up to level 5. :p

Yeah - although I'm not quite sure how I managed to use Super Speed while I was exemplared like that :-p

Actually, if you're level 1, you get +5 levels (I misremembered it as two power choices, which places it "after level 4", instead of a flat +5 levels), so you'd have powers up to Lv6 - with the 60mo badge allowing travel powers without a pre-req, you could in theory have SS at level 1. :)

I don't know how you'd have several different kicks *AND* SS, but it's in theory possible if you fudge the mechanics a bit! :p

FREEM!
Seriously though, that was impressive. You sure know how to do this! It must have taken a lot of time though.

The actual rendering doesn't usually take very long - it's the model-making and post-work that takes up the majority of the time.
But it's always fun, and I'm working on a second comic right now too :-p

Looks like a lot of fun. Very well made, and I like the story.

As far as making PDF from it, I've done a bunch of that lately for some school projects. Here's a link to a 27MB version that retains pretty close to full quality. Should be plenty for passing around on the web, at any rate. The raw JPGs are like 150MB total downloaded full res, so you're not going to get much better compression than that without some serious quality loss, I think.

Ooh, that's the first time I've seen a compression that didn't cause color bleeding - and the text doesn't seem too be very fuzzy either.
Thank you for that - I'll upload it to DA as an alternative way of viewing the comic.
