What could have been - in my mind - a new classic of the slapstick horror genre is utterly tainted by an inexplicable barrage of homophobic content, which may have been included in order to dequeerify the clear affection exhibited between the two male leads. Other than all the gay-bashing and nasty, contrived and mean-spirited stereotypes, this a fun, wacky, zombie-filled romp.
Wow, how do I live in Japan and not know about this movie? I can't watch the trailer (at work) but omg the poster is amazing at least. Aikaiwa Sho in a bald wig is the funniest thing I have seen in a long time.
It's a shame about the gay bashing but that is pretty par for the course in this country, sadly.
It really is a lot of fun, so you should see it if you can. Just be warned about the weird homophobia. And I really didn't know that about Japan. I've been watching Japanese movies for as long as I can remember and this is the first one I can think of that was blatantly anti-queer.
