What exactly did this Lorne guy think he could do for me? I lit a cigarette as I made my way to the club. Caritas. Kinda funny name for club. I sighed and walked faster. Might as well get this over with.

I found the club without too much trouble and made my way inside. I looked around at the patrons and almost dropped my cigarette. What was this ( Read more... )

The girl stuck out like a sore thumb, thanks to her looks and aura both. I forced a smile as I approached her, but the vibes she was sending out hit me like a cold slap in the face. Something bad was going down, and this little chickie was carrying the weight of her world on her shoulders right now. Not good. Not good at all.

"You must be Roz," I greeted her, holding my hand out to her as I closed in, stepping between her and the busboy that had met her at the door. "I'm Lorne. Nice to put a face to the name."

I closed my hand around hers and gave it a firm shake, bracing myself as the the negative energy around her began to buzz.

This was not good. Not good at all.

"Now now, sweetheart, what can I do for you?"

I shook his hand. Guess the management got in on the whole theme of the place. "Uh, yeah. Nice...nice to meet you."

"...what can I do for you?"

I ran a hand through my hair. He wanted to talk about me not the lawyer sitch. Great going, Foker. I took a deep breath an looked him in the eye. "I don't really see how there's much of anything you can do. It's just...this freak thing that happens sometimes..."

"Uh, yeah. Nice...nice to meet you."

The garden-hued veneer put her off, didn't it.

"Likewise, sugar, a pleasure."

Despite the pressing matters that she had brought to my attention over the phone, I could tell this girl could use a little help herself. Granted, her situation might not be the top priority at the momeny, but it would be nice to get a little bit of information on our way to solving this problem with Mr. McDonald of Wolfram & Hart.

"Well, how about I get you settled down with a drink and you tell me a little about this 'thing,' and how it relates to our situation with Mr. Lindsey McDonald, hmm? That sound alright?" I smiled a little, trying not to push too hard. Even I knew that I had the tendency to be a little overbearing at times ( ... )

Hey, never knock a drink offer, my end of the bargain not withstanding. "Okay. Dry vodka martini, stirred." What can I say, the whole rich parents thing rubs off.

I lit a new cigarette as I waited for my drink. Had to try t' calm down before I even tried talkin' about weird shit. I took a long drag and glanced at Lorne.

"So...just so you know, the 'thing' is weird. Freaky weird."
