That editorial outlines pure insanity. They'd be nice ideas if it weren't for the fact that the middle classes (=us) would somehow get fucked/stuck with the tab, while the rich white men will continue to wipe their asses with their fortunes, for lack of something better to do.

Unfortunately, since it seems that more than half the nation has deified Obama, and will continue to do so, I'm going to shut up now...

Yeah, the generic term "rich white men" is not appreciated in my journal. This is a No White Guilt zone.

Anyway, it still doesn't matter who it gets taken from; expendable income or not, it shouldn't be taken*.

*Except minimally, for infrastructure (so he's good there, except that infrastructure money is NEVER spent correctly), basic education, and defense (real defense).

If you're mad at the government for spending your money, please see my post about setting up a Roth IRA.

What you said.

I've given up. It's all bread and circuses. That's probably all it's ever been.

This just goes back to why I feel if not for the addiction to economy-damning, corrupt-laden, utterly-futile social programs, I might actually like the Democratic party. Then I look at the tax and unemployment rates in European countries and I cringe at the thought of Obama or Hillary. But of course, I'm too logical to even consider a man who denies evolution as the President, and McCain is just an ineffective pandering puppet, so really, I'm praying someone, anyone who at least is worth my vote runs via another party. My vote might not matter (my faith in the voting public to ignore hype is null) but at least I can justify taking part in the election instead trying to vote against the lesser of two evils.
