I don't know if it's the death of asshole Batman. He's been pretty much dead in Detective and, I think, Morrison's writing. Just in guest shots he hasn't been. And Morrison can't control guest shots. ... Even ones that happen in books he's writing, apparently.

I'm wondering if Bruce Wayne is simply going to let "his" Batman die. What with the heart attack and all, they're starting to insinuate that maybe all these years of punishment have caught up with him, and he's really getting too old for vigilanteism. I can see him offering the mantle of the Bat to Dick - but whether or not he'll accept it is another thing.

No, it's not that he is old. I think what GM is saying is that all that fighting the Joker thing hasn't been the best thing for his mental health.
