I somehow doubt it, but is there anybody on my little network of readers who can point me in the direction of a comfortable pair of safety glasses ( Read more... )

Random item indeed!

I went and took a look at mine from when I was doing barn work (baling hay can be a dangerous thing for they eyes, let me tell you!) and they're DeWalt brand, and they say "Dual Comfort" on them. They've got pretty good adjustments on them and they were pretty comfortable, even when it got really hot and fit much more like a nice pair of sports sunglasses than like safety glasses.

Thanks. I look those up and see their impact rating.

We have to cover an impact rating as well as have a fairly tight fit so that random pieces of metals can't fly over the edge and into our eyes. Luckily I don't work the part of the line where you have a to the face fit. But I walk all over every inch of the plant, so I have to have good glasses.

The "cheap" glasses they give us are high impact resistance, etc, but they are severely uncomfortable on the ears and the nose pieces break easy... not to mention I've scratched mine to hell and back. :P

I had the same problem. The one's they issued us were useless after a week cause you can't see out of them. I ended up getting a pair of oakley's. It's a little pricey but the upside is that they're very comfortable and I can still use them after a year. It's the M-Frame model and it has the ANSI Z87.1 rating.

OT...love your stories. Whenever I see your name attached to something it always puts a smile on my face. Hope you have something else on the horizon.

if you have a sextons welding they have good stuff
but also anything similar may have some good ones. I got some that are nice and for like eight bucks.

For boots or shoes, I've never owned Timberlands. I love Wolverines, but they're a little pricey. For the past couple of years, I've had Magnums. Really comfortable. I would imagine that they come in a steel toed version.

Beyond the sunscreen, protective clothing and seeking shade, wearing sunglasses has just joined the list of sun safety essentials you need to protect yourself from damaging ultraviolet, UV, rays. Everyone's heard of skin cancer, but few realize how much the eyes can suffer from ultraviolet exposure. Both short and long term exposure to UV rays can bring on vision problems and damage to the eye.
