Wouldn't anyone expressing any kind of sentiment disagreeing with the multiculti crew get prosecuted for hate speech in Canada? I seem to remember a couple of cases of opinions being treated as crimes. I would think basing a whole network on that sort of thing would require a new set of hate crime courtrooms with a revolving door and 24 hour service.

Actually, no. A lot of people disagree with multiculturalism - and gay rights, and a host of other left-type opinions. It becomes a hate crime when you step over the line from "I don't think we should be letting so many people into Canada and these statistics (link) show that they are disproportionately charged with crime and/or use up welfare dollars" to "so the only way to protect ourselves against them is to fight fire with fire." Or when you go from "The Bible says that homosexuality is wrong and gays should be put to death" to "so that's what we should do too

I fully admit my knowledge on the general topic is vague, since it's been a while since I was reading about it. I just remember it as seeming to take forever and a day for Mark Steyn and at least one other guy to defend themselves (and ultimately be exonerated, iirc) on hate crime charges for writing stuff with the basic theme of, "But, dude, really, Islamic fundamentalists have said repeatedly they want to kill us. Maybe they mean it and we should respond accordingly, yeah?"
