Motivation is very important, and thus my simple religion is love, respect for others, honesty: teachings that cover not only religion but also the fields of politics, economics, business, science, law, medicine-everywhere. With proper motivation these can help humanity…

i am never in grand rapids. i'm moving to germany forever! that's right i got a full time job and said screw college!

so that's some obvious bullshit. i don't know when i'll be there. obviously before classes but otherwise i have no idea. i thought of you today, because i thought i saw you. but no, that was some other person who looks like you but was hanging out in germany when you wrote the message about wanting to see me in GR. so, i'm guessing she was not you.

so, we should carpool/ride the same bus/be in each other's houses this year. proximity = good.

z, what up. i'm still here in germany --saw neuschwanstein today -- and tomorrow i go to ireland until sunday... and then back to germany... and then pennsylvania... and then michigan... and pennsylvania...and michigan...

right. maybe i should hold off on more travel plans until you know what up for sure, but my weekends are usually spontaneous so we should be able to plan.

how's walden? help to take care of some of the sting/burn?

Hey bweeper!!

Hurry up and figure out when you are coming to GR!!!! Starting with least important reasons...: 1) Swangers want you here for lease signing and such :-P 2) There is to be much cleaning with Murphy's oil soap which I know you would have lots and lots and lots of fun with :-D 3)Amelia and Case would love to see you 4) you will have fun with Ariel 5)I WANT TO SEE YOU BEFORE I LEAVE ON THE 2ND, SO HURRY UP AND MAKE UP YOUR MIND (says the second largest hypocrite in the world who can never ever make up her mind until she is forced to make a split second decision. :-P). Anywho...I vote sooner rather than later. But that's me being selfish. :-) I know your parents want to see you and so on and so forth... But. But. But. I'm leaving, gosh-darn-it! :-) *Erin now deflates into a normal size lung and swears to stop telling other people her own feelings quite so loudly* :-P

well, here's what i have to say. I AM coming home and I am doing so to see you. My plans are not firm yet (remember, i have parents?) subt it may involve going to pittsburgh, to GR, to ptitsburgh, and then back to GR before classes start. who wants stability? now, as to YOUR reasons...

1. Swangers will deal. honest. they have so far and look what they've been through!
2. chemicals. yummy. do i have to clean my room? when's the big clean supposed to happen? natalie... are you still coming for that?
3. amelia and case will see me, this is not urgent either. i'll be living with them. or one of them. or them. or something.
4. see 3.
5. i spoke to that already, i think.

so, i will see you sometime within the next two weeks. honest.

so ive been reading "the teachings of the Buddha" today...it seems to me that Buddhism puts as much, if not more, emphasis on the mind (and soul) with the body as a mere recepticle, than Christianity. Is that kind of dualism conducive to good environmentalism, etc? Also, the denial of sensational pleasure, I'm not sure, but I feel Buddhism takes it too far. We should be appreciative of pleasure and open to it, but not to the extent that we are seeking after it as our motivation. I dunno, those are just my random thoughts. Other than that, it kind of just reminded me of parts of the new testament of the bible...just kind of nice...somethings ringing more true, others less true.

I might be a hard convert ;)

a long response.... cinnazimt August 19 2004, 05:45:26 UTC
so let me respond, but keep in mind that buddhism isn't really looking for converts. also, let me say that when you compare religions you should compare practice to practice or compare theology to theology. i don't do a good job of doing that in the next few paragraphs ( ... )

hmmm...I want to ask about 80 zillion questions but 1) I don't have time EVER!!! 2) I'm a bit stressed out and my brain does not have the energy to formulate any questions with addiquate intentionality, initelligibility, or interest. *sigh* maybe later. :-)

You see, this is what I love about you. I have a couple of hazy indistinc thoughts which I impart to you. Then you frame them in an incredibly articulate manner and answer them as such. I really do miss our late night conversations :) I look forward to hearing from you when you only have to dial ten digits instead of 23 ;) I hope you enjoyed Ireland and whomever it might be that you may have visited while there ;)
