So, I was rereading some of Eclipse, looking for a quote I wanted to use in a graphic, and oh my gad, it just gets worse every time! I mean, not worse in a "this book is crap!" kind of way, but worse in that Jacob just seems like more and more of a shitty little asshat, and I pick up on more and more things that show just how much pain Edward was ( Read more... )

Exactly how I feel every time I read Eclipse. It makes me loathe Jake all over again. He really was a selfish little jackass in that book!

He was such a manipulative little bitch. Even before all the mouth-raping. Just the way he talks to Bella makes me sick. Just playing her because he knows he can, and trying to get what he wants, no matter what the cost could be to her. It's like he never even considered he could hurt her himself, or that he could imprint on somebody else, or even that it might, duh, hurt her to leave behind the Cullens. But Edward considered every single one of those things in reverse.

The maturity gap is just astounding. And I get it, Jacob is young and he -is- immature, but that doesn't make the way he treats her okay, and it certainly doesn't make it attractive. At all.

Gah.

Amen, sister, preach on!

Jake never stopped to consider what anyone else wanted, except himself. Of course he had willing accomplices in Billy and Charlie, who egged him on and both worked Bella over every chance they got.

*snuggle Edward* It riles me when people say he's an abusive boyfriend, controlling and manipulative and Jake is the better option. I'm all, hello, did you read the same books I did?

That's what i feel like every time i read Eclipse (and i've read it more than a few times lol) Especially when Bella kissed Jacob and Edward found out i was literaly crying because i felt like i was in his position feeling cheated. Even if he didn't get mad at Bella i so loathed both her and Jacob at that point! And i'm so dreading the New Moon movie because i have a disturbing feeling in my gut that they're gonna show much more intensely the Jacob/Bella relationship although it wasn't like that till the end of Eclipse. I just hate love triangles :/

I'm still not mad at Bella, because I feel like Jacob manipulated her so much...playing upon her kindness and compassion. She doesn't want anybody to hurt, let alone a good friend, and he used that time and again. It's unforgivable.

From what I'm hearing, it's still pretty E/B heavy. I mean, they're talking about Bella seeing Edward instead of just hearing him, and I have a feeling that if the movie went for a full hour without Edward in it, the fans would flip a shit...and I think the movie-makers know that, too. It's the E/B that everyone gets so invested in. With a few exceptions, but those aren't the mainstream.

Plus, I mean, think about how much they have to crunch in - some E/B time at the beginning, the birthday party, Edward leaving, Bella being all broken, the Port Angeles bit, the motorcycles, the werewolf explanation, cliff-diving, Volterra... I don't think there will be time for a whole lot of intensive J/B.

I know, Jacob was a little manipulative prick and i have so many names to call him, not at all flattering, but i think you get my point. I guess i blamed a little Bella as well because, even though it was not intentionally, she did hurt Edward and accordingly me, who worships every inch of that fictional character.(fictional character obsession - count me in :D ( ... )

That's the only thing I don't get about Bella in Eclipse...how she could focus so much on Jacob's pain that she missed Edward's.

I do, too. I already think he played him as kind of a prick in Twilight, though, so good start. When he's like, "It's just a story, Bella," I'm like, "YOU CONDESCENDING LITTLE PRICK." I don't get it, either. His behavior was just...disgusting.

I hope they won't, either. I think the love triangle was -always- in Jacob's head...I mean, I get that it was some weird pre-imprinty thing where he was drawn to Bella because her ovary held his future mate or whatever (lol, so why isn't he drawn to Edward, too, huh?) and that's one thing, but I really think he kind of...manipulated her into thinking she loved him back.

Mmm, I want to reread the end part again, too. Edward convincing Bella he's real and that he loves her is one of my favorite moments, ever.

Jacob's a pissy little shit. I want to conk him on the head and drag him away and hide him. It confounds me that he continues to "trick" Bella into kissing him. She really is fairly daft for a heroine, tbh.

I love Edward more than is healthy for a fictional character, I think. It's almost maternal...except I do really want to have sex with him.

THIS.

"Pissy little shit." I like that. He's really kind of a girl with all the mind games. I wanna slap the little bitch, with a frying pan.

She's daft, but it's because she likes people too much. *shrugs* That's Bella, I guess. I'd have no problem telling Jacob to piss off...but I wouldn't be friends with him in the first place.

I am grinning at the commentaries. Edward in the books had so much self-control, always putting Bella's interests first...to a fault. But in the end he wins, he gets Bella, he is happier and optimistic, but he goes through SO MUCH AGONY before he gets to that happy stage.
