I LOVE Ric and Ken Burns. "Civil War" was great but my two faves are "Jazz" (which made me a huge Jazz fan) and "New York". I watched the series on New York four or five times because I didn't know what I didn't know so I assumed others were just as ignorant. So I sorta made a few people watch it with me and they were never disappointed. I have never been let down by a Burns Documentary. Thanks for the reminder, Xim!
Not sure how I managed to miss this when it was posted. Ric Burns documentary on the Donner Party is inspired! Really excellent with some great vocal performances--including Frances Sternhagen, who I love.

I have liked all of the Burns brothers documentaries. I have a new appreciation and greater understanding of all the subjects they have covered. All of their films seem to compliment each other. Each one I see reinforces the others. They all are good enough to watch again to re-absorb the information. I, too, liked the Donner Party which I did not mention in my review. I also recommend Frank Lloyd Wright - both of these films will amaze you with the power of the true facts of what really happened to these iconic pieces of American history. -XIM
