Feb 22, 2013 18:26

First of all, if you've seen the original Total Recall but haven't yet had a chance to see this one... Beware, thar be spoilers ahead matey. I'm going to highlight a few of the differences between the original and the remake, so I will more than likely end up including a spoiler or five.

So, onward, upward, and ( outward! )

philip k. dick, jessica biel, total recall, science fiction, kate beckinsale, crime, thriller/suspense, remake/reboot, colin farrell

If the original hadn't been made, I guarantee the remake would have received far better press.

Yes, you are right. But I didn't feel as positive as you did about the reboot. They dumbed down the story a little too much.

I agree, totally. That's what I meant by the part where I felt that the reboot relied far too much on action sequences and special effects to replace story, where the original used them to enhance the story.

It's been a long time since I've seen the original, so I didn't have to sit there and compare the two. But I enjoyed the remake. I thought I'd hate it. But I didn't.

Though I don't like the Underworld films, I love Patrick Tatopoulos and his set design and stuff.. so I kinda had the idea that I'd at least enjoy the setting. I didn't expect that he'd pretty much transplant L.A. from Blade Runner into the Colony, but eh. What can ya do?
