Okay, this one... I'm really not sure what I can say as a concise lead-up before the cut other than HOLYBALLS. Yep. That about covers it. Now, ( on with the show! )
I always heard good things about the original film and the book, though I don't have personal experience with either. Michael Crichton helped with the original film (1978ish). Can't personally say if it is good or aged well but might be worth checking out
I didnt know it was supposed to be based on or have any affiliation with the original "Coma". Wasn't that Natalie Woods last film? Gotta ask X about that, he is a huge Natalie fan (who isn't?) Zu
That's right, she was in that trippy as hell film 'Brainstorm". I actually just recorded a show about some new evidence about the night Natalie died. What a natural talent, and I know she and Audrey Hepburn are two of his big faves. Coma had Micheal Douglas (the original). If they redid it to 'make it better', they failed. LOL
I fell utterly in love with Lauren as Claire on SFU. She then virtually disappeared for years, one of her few credits as "Emma" in a direct-to-HBO film called "A Dog Year" (Emma's a friend of mine; how can it get any better than that?).
She didn't do much for me in Torchwood, so I'll be interested to see how she does in this.
We still haven't finished Miracle Day yet, but I forgot completely that she was even *in* it, that's how forgettable that role was. And I love me some Lauren Ambrose.
She is hands-down one of my favorite 'underrated' actresses, and looking back on 'Coma', I can't help but agree with Zu at least a little bit that most of the scenes were "I have to run from the big scary man into the arms of another equally scary man that I trust just because of a uniform or title."... Lauren typically plays characters that can kick ass on their own, so this one was kinda ... meh.
