I have to agree with you, Y. When my Girlfriend picked it out I thought I'd be bored to tears but I was completely involved from start to finish. Sandra Bullock and Tom Hanks weren't overused, they support the main cast of the boy and Max Von Sydow. I had to fight the urge to shout at the screen "THE POWER OF CHRIST COMPELS YOU" but I held it in.
It wasn't "shlocky", "hooky", or anything that is TRYING to be a tear-jerker. It just sometimes was naturally.
I'm not going to lie -- big, bad, Y.. the dude who's literally 6'9" with boots on, piercings in the face, scares children without actually DOING anything, yeah. I cried. The scene where he tells the Renter his story for the first time. That was when I lost my shit, AND knew that Thomas Horn is going to be a huge fucking star when he's older.

OMG, after this review, I had to watch this film and you were right. I was scared off by what I figured would be a 'cheese; factor, but it was just Brilliant.
Thought you boys might like a feminine point of view =)
