crush with ikea

When I was a kid, I aspired to Ikea. Every year, the catalog would arrive in our little mailbox and I'd pour over it, fantasizing about the organized and efficient, yet stylish life that the images of loft beds and dressers promised. If you need other furniture - there are always tons of postings on craigs list of people wanting to sell their Ikea furniture. You can often find something in great condition, much cheaper than the original price. Hell, sometimes you can even search craigslist by the name of the item you want, and find several postings.

Just in case you need a compromise between stylish/functional and cost of the Brick.

Yeah, but my dad wants to go new on the couch and love seat--we've never had a new couch and or love seat before.

Thanks anyway!

I have couch-shaped cat scratching posts an IKEA couch and loveseat, Ektorp.

Speaking about IKEA, a long time ago, before I got a permanent LJ account, I made a new LJ just so I could use the scrapbooking feature to upload photos (photobucket deemed them too naughty), as I didn't want ads on my LJ, and that was the only way to use the scrapbooking feature. Anyway, I was having so much trouble thinking of a name that wasn't taken, and I ended up choosing ektorp just because I couldn't think of anything else!

Ikea stuff doesn't always travel well or hold up to heavy wear, but it's okay... The office lines are really good for desks, if a bit expensive. By no means the most expensive things out there though.

I'd take something from them over something from The Brick any day; I find Brick stuff just tends to get squeaky and rickety after a year or two.
