Sodexho Surprise

The 7th floor nurses know how to treat a patient right. As soon as I arrived on the floor and was wheeled into the reading room, I was offered crackers and apple juice. Since I was hungry for the first time in what seemed like ever, I took advantage of the offer--even going for seconds. Hey, get hungry enough and those packets of unsalted Premium ( Read more... )

I didn't know that you were in the hospital! Are you alright?

I was in the hospital from Saturday morning to Monday at 11:00 am. My sodium and potassium levels were fucked (read: low), so they wanted to keep me under observation for a few days. Then they got bored and let me out on Monday. But I'm better now.

There's one more hospital story left to tell, and then I'll be back to my normal post subjects.

And now, I must go get dinner before work!

Sodexho at Dal ( in cahoots with Aramark) have been responsible for some pretty impressive culinary travesties.

If there was a show called 'Culinary Travesties' on the food network, and it was about the worst meals ever served, I would totally watch it.

But damn, Sodexho plus Aramark? The kings of mediocre meals together at last? That's almost like Dal's aiming for the title of Worst Food Ever. Sadly, given budgets and whatnot, these are probably the best meals they can come up with under the circumstances.

Yeah, 8 bucks for a "stir fry" that was watery, 90% rice, and peppers that had been cooked to a mush.

Horrific, honestly. If that's the best they can do on 8 bucks a person, at a commercial kitchen, it's a sad thing.

Most people go grab lunch at this vendor's cart outside the Student union building, but the Sodexho/Aramark guys want him shut down. Because he serves good hot dogs and burgers for under $4.

In the vernacular of the youth, that's bogus. I'd be in the hot dog and burger line, too.

Glad you're out of the hospital.

I just had KFC on Monday. Mmm...mmm...good.

Dude, I used to live on KFC. There was one around the corner from my childhood apartment, and every other Friday I'd get the Chicken Coupe kids meal. And during my university days, I'd occasionally partake in a Toonie Tuesday meal. But I'm a Church's Chicken girl now. Modern-day KFC just can't compare, at least not here in Canada.
