Back when I worked at the theatre, we had a rule of thumb: Walkouts meant that a movie was good, or at least doing something right. It meant that a movie had been so offensive, so challenging, or even so different as to cause people to leave their seats and demand refunds. As it was in a fairly poor, urban area those that remained consoled themselves by cackling such astute observations like, "DAMMMMN! HE BE USING SUPAH KUNG-FU!" throughout the film.

I was surprised, too.
As for Tarnation, I checked the website--it's already played Illinois. But it'll make its way onto DVD eventually. Might lose something in the transfer, though.
