Getting the ball rolling....

Well, last Friday me, Mike and my parents went to Orlando Familia banquet center in Riverview. It was the 1st of 3 halls we were going to look at but dad and I both loved it, and so we decided that's the one we want to go with for the reception. Mom and Mike were both neutral - they liked it a lot too but both said whatever makes me & dad happy ( Read more... )

Go with Orlando's....we were VERY close to booking the IA hall. We even met with the lady who makes the food and we were NOT impressed. We even went there on Easter a few years back while Darin was home on leave to taste the food. It wasn't that great. The location isn't the best either. I was almost dead set on that place too, until that day. You want quality. So what if it's going to be a little bit more, I'm sure you and your family will be happier in the end.

I can also give you the contacts of my vendors as well. Especially our cake, it was amazing (and not that expensive).

Keep us posted on where you officially book!

Yes, I think we will be. I just called my dad & told him there's no point in looking elsewhere since we both liked it a lot and the price was right. I've been to IA Hall for a zillion weddings/NYE parties/10 year reunion and I like it there and all, food to me was just fine, but I like the location of Orlando's for pictures and the view outside the window is nice with the golf course in the background. DAd wants me to call the lady again & ask a few more questions and set up another appointment for late next week.

Yay, the hall and the priest/pastor/church are the two most important things you need.

If you want, my photographer was amazing. He not only gave me 4x6's of everything he took, but he also gave me the digital files. And he's not overly expensive either. And my DJ was great too. Very professional, didn't play anything I didn't want, it's a wife/hubby team and while I was getting pics taken, he started the music at the reception and she helped everyone find their seat. Not to mention, making sure that anything I needed was taken care of. Getting the wedding party drinks, etc.

Oh and my limo company was great too. By far the cheapest I found and they have a red carpet/champagne for wedding parties. Tons of fun!!!!

So let me know if you want any of the info.

I'm interested in who you used for the limo...although with me being downriver and you being "way-the-heck-up-there" (lol) not sure if they'd come down this way or charge extra if they did. That seems to be the only thing I don't have in the running yet, as I decided to do fake flowers at Michaels for the bouquets and corsages, mom's neighbor for the church flowers, dad knows a photographer, mom has friends whos kids dj and I think I found my cake lady.
thanks!!

Limos by Stephan (I think that's how he spells it.) But the number is 866.240.2480.

I'm pretty sure they cover most of SE Michigan. But you'll have to call to check.

I used Entertainment Express for my bachelorette party & wedding. My friend Jessica used them for her wedding and Amy used them for her wedding & bachelorette party too.

Thanks so much! :) I need to get your actual e mail address so I can send you pictures - unless someone can show me how to post them on here! :)

I pretty much know the style of wedding gown I want; just need to get out there and find it! I'll probably start looking in November for that. In the meantime Mike's daughter wants to shop with me so maybe on Monday I'll pick her up from school and take her since I have all next week off and he has to work on Monday.
