Pick a character I write, and I will give you the top five ideas/concepts/other I keep in mind while writing that character that I believe are essential to depicting them accurately. This includes both original characters and characters about whom I write fanfic.Because I went into work today for 1.5 hours, watched kids sleep, drew a purple llama ( Read more... )

Ahhh! Reid's hard to put into words. Seriously, I could probably ramble nonsensically about him for hours, he's one of those characters that is at once easy and impossible ( ... )

Gonna go old school on this one and say Greg Sanders. Or Nick. Or both! :D

Well, for both of them, for starters, I'll just say: They're married. Seriously. I mean, I know they get 'paired' off in episodes with other people for like a whole minute but when I write them that just has no part of it. They were married sometime in the last four years or so and that is just who they are ( ... )

All of this totally makes sense, and a lot of it is how I see them too. Especially both of their #2 points. I've always seen both of them as sort of super domestic with each other, Greg especially (though maybe just because I have a super weak spot for domestic fluff). And with Nick, I've always seen him as almost-but-not-really ashamed of his homosexuality. I think he views himself not as gay but as in love with Greg, and that's just how it is, and it doesn't matter that Greg is a man. But the way you stated it, the phrase "heteronormal standards", I really like that.

I need a good Nick/Greg icon to use to reply to this. :/

1) He held onto that guilt of his homosexuality even after his father accepted him. Which kind of confuses me and I feel like every time I write him I am writing with that piece of the puzzle missing and I need to fill it. EVERY TIME. (I'm lame, what?) In addition, his crush on Finn started over something so basically none-existent that it just... it's in contradiction to his self confidence. Which I guess is something they play off in the show but still leaves me wanting to write it out more ( ... )
