Fandom, fandom, fandom

So... like most times, I have gone from zero fandom interest to 100 percent interest over night. I blame Halloween meme really, cause I started writing and I realized? I LOVED IT! I missed feeling in to fandom and the reason I was so out of fandom was because I was scared of what fandom meant. New people, new fic, new everything. But then I re- ( Read more... )

Your cut is broken. But I don't care! Because I agree with everything you just said, well most everything anyway. Morgan/Reid! Nick/Greg! Gibbs/DiNozzo!

I am a part of a fandom. I like to call it my flist.

Hell, yes. I'm in control of my fandom experience, I get to decide who I spend my day with (via my flist) and who I listen to and get to know. And it's wonderful:)

That was because it was late and I was MEGA tired but thanks for the catch. :)

EXACTLY! I realized that the other day. When I first started in fandom I was always hunting and pecking but I am finally at the stage where I just get to like... graze on the awesomeness in front of me. It is quite nice. And a lot more satisfying. :D

You're right about flist fandom. I haven't gone looking for fic in months, I always get it from flist or recs and it's always pretty amazing so why look elsewhere.

Nick and Greg. These two are adorable. I wouldn't say I'm in the fandom but I've read some fic on them (in fact I think they are the reason I found lj) and always loved the dynamic that comes up between them. It's a pity we don't see more of that chemistry on-screen but then that's what McShep is for. If you have good Nick/Greg recs you have to send them my way!

And you know how I feel about all things NCIS ::hugs new fandom::

I have been going through my old Nick/Greg's stuff but most of my recs you probably would have already read. I am a glut for any and all that is carolinecrane. Seriously. She has a few new peices that made me feel warm like going home.

OMG, NCIS. That is the place I am finding the most resistence. It is like, I look and look and yet so little is out there! I do have hope though. Seriously. And like two more seasons of shippiness to go through! :D

carolinecrane's page looks hugely familiar. I think I may have read her DW Mickey/Jake stories back when she was writing them.

I haven't gone into the NCIS fic too much yet because I have so much of the show to catch up on so the only stories I've read are xanthelj's (which I know I've already recced you. She just posted a new one though.) The only other place I can point you is the NCIS listing over at newbieguide. Again I don't know which comm's are good or not but it's a pretty good listing.

My first fandom was Buffy, but since Angel/Spike is really canon, I consider Nick/Greg my first OTP:)

So, did you like the vid? (I bet you remembered it)

I love my flist too for introducing me to other fandoms, although they don't always manage to convert me;) It's awesome to hang around with like-minded crazy fanfolk.

I did remember it but it was so nice to see it again. Mmm. Jason Mraz and Nick/Greg. *shiver* It was like three minutes of condensed awesome. :)

And see, I have a weird history. I was a fic writer at age like. 9? For Dawson's Creek. Joey/Dawson. Then again for Roswell when I was 14. (Which looking back is funny because I think I shipped Max/Michael with out realizing it because I was so like, "But there is a character with my name! I have to ship her, right?")

haha, when I think about it, that's true. I don't post to general communities anymore, half the time when I wrote fic I wouldn't cross post it etc etc.

My problem with fandom is that I'm fickle. When it comes to ships I generally don't do OTP TO END ALL OTPS because I find if I do that I get sick of them after two seconds.

There are a few ships that I don't think I'll ever be able to fully let go of. Nick/Greg being one of them. There's just something about them that I just .. love. And get nostalgic about and sort of wistful. Even though the show is still airing, but whatever.

The funny thing? My problem with fandom is the EXACT opposite. I am like.... crazy shipper. I have OTPs and then my brain just doesn't connect to other pairings. I am protective, and silly about it. But at least I know I am silly about it? That is a step right?

And yes, I will never let go of Nick/Greg, and even on some level Martin/Danny (though I seriously haven't watched that show in 3 years. There is just some fairy dust (mind the pun) about it that I keep going back and thinking, "Remember when?"

Well I say things like that, but then when I think about it maybe the reason I'm so all over the place with ships is because there hasn't been anything worthy of OMG OTP 111!1!1! for awhile. Like a lot of the things that have a special place in my heart are from my first fandoms. CSI would fall into that, Harry Potter etc.
