New Friends Page again

lj_releases has now posted publicly about the new friends page redesign which is now in beta testing. It appears it will be mandatory from the wording used ("The friends page has been redesigned as a system page for all users

I left a comment expressing my unhappiness, though I doubt it's going to do any good. And, yes, it does look like the change is going to be for all users whether you like it or not. I'm going to stick with the current style until they literally pry it out of my fingers -- but I'm also going to move what fic I've put in missivesandmore over to AO3 and let that journal go. I suddenly feel the need to reduce my footprint -- and it took a lot for them to do that.

I think they're shooting themselves in the foot because it looks like they're back into the "chase the new shiny" mode again.

Yes, I've really got to:

a. back up my journal on DW
b. post my fic on AO3

I've neglected the AO3 thing because I find it a challenge to post things over there, and once I get started I know I'll want to finish it. But since I'm going to be laid up for awhile with my surgery, this might be a good time to start that project.

I hadn't backed up my LJ at Dreamwidth for months, so did that yesterday just in case. But I just...I DON'T WANT TO MOVE. LJ has all my icons and it's comfortable and I like it. Why do they have to keep trying to make it other sites? I added my voice to the chorus on the LJ release page. The other thing is this rumour that they're getting rid of paid accounts. I have a permanent account, and I'm not going back to the equivalent of a free account with ads. No fucking way.
