After watching the first two parts of Roger's interview with Eric Sheffer Stevens at We Love Soaps, based on the things Eric did (and didn't) say, I am even more convinced of the following:

I agree with you on all counts except #2. I don't think Reid is going to turn out to be John Dixon's son. And honestly, I really hope he doesn't. I mean, yes it makes sense to bring on new characters and then tie them to the bigger Oakdale canvas in some way. But Reid already has a past connection to Chris, plus interacted with several other characters on the show regularly besides Luke (Bob, Kim, Chris, Katie, Henry ( ... )

I get where you're coming from, and I agree that Noah's character has been woefully underdeveloped. I would have loved to have seen his aunt come into the picture, or a storyline where the Colonel was redeemed, for example, or the father figure connection with Dusty. It's really not fair that his character was not developed more.

But that doesn't mean that I don't want Reid to be just as underdeveloped, if that makes sense. I don't blame Reid for the writer's lack of attention to Noah.

As far as being John Dixon's son, I'm kind of neutral on whether I want him to be or not, but I do think it's going to happen. I don't know if you watched the interview, but Eric had to cut himself off when he started talking about Reid's scenes with John Dixon, saying something like "oh, I can't say that." And when Roger mentioned that Reid reminded him of John Dixon, his expression was very telling, IMO. We shall find out soon!

I'm not saying Reid's character shouldn't be developed. I just think it sucks that he's getting the kind of character relationships and development that Noah never got. And if he does turn out to be John Dixon's son, it'd just be one more thing, you know? For the record, I feel the same bitterness towards other newbies like Gabriel and Janet, who gets all of these family members introduced just for her, when Noah's been on the show longer.

I haven't seen the second part of the interview yet; I shall check it out soon.

No, he hasn't been on yet. I'm not sure when his first airdate is, but if I find out I'll be sure to let you know. He's going to do 10-12 episodes, I believe. (And hopefully, end up with Lucinda!)

I haven't heard anything about her coming back.

But yeah, Eric (Reid) said he just loved working with Larry. And they are both so funny - it should be some great stuff.
