I don't usually do these kinds of memes, but I'm feeling introspective today. Therefore, snagged from many on my FL:

Ask me a question about one of my stories. It can be absolutely anything in any fic and I will tell you the honest-to-god answer. Don’t hold back. Ask about my plans for future parts of a current series if you want to, but keep in ( Read more... )

In Better Late Than Never, it looks like Giles remembers meeting Spike and Buffy in the past - why else the mysterious stuff about the book? So, is that memory what prompted his comment to Spike about "a higher purpose," which canon never followed up on? (Basically: were you being super sneaky or is that just fortuitous?)

Giles doesn't remember meeting them...not yet, at least. ;-) But he and PastRipper know the same information up to a certain point in time, so they both know another way to get Spike and Buffy home. But it's not without risk, as Giles explains to Dawn. He's secretive about the book because it's from his Ripper days, and associated with lots of angst for him because of the death of his friends.

So no, I hadn't even thought about that "higher purpose" line, at least not specifically. But I think these reminders of his past and the ways he's changed may make Giles a bit more sympathetic to Spike.

Thank you for the question!

This isn't a question about a specific story, but... which of your Spike/Buffy fics is your favourite?

Oh, that's a tough one. I guess I'll say The Widening Gyre, as it's my most recent stand-alone story, and kind of came as a surprise. I like the structure of that one.

I also like Collateral Damage. It's post-Chosen, and Spike loses his soul due to the amulet. It was interesting to write an unsouled Spike after he had had a soul, and imagine how he would react to that, as well as how others would react. And I got to write Angel and Wesley as well, who are two characters I really enjoy writing, but don't that often, for some reason.

Thanks for the question, Lori!
