Hee. Actually a friend of mine who is an avid birder informed me that making a bunch of noise is part of the whole woodpecker mating ritual; apparently, loud is to a woodpecker what brightly colored is to other species. In nature it'd be a hollow tree they'd bang on; but now humans have stepped in and given them an even better instrument! (I wake up to it every morning this time of the year, too.)
You know, I read and enjoy your fic but I'm horrible about feedback; yet here I am babbling away about woodpeckers.
Off to the Giles/Anya fic; maybe I can get my act together and actually comment on a story!
I didn't find Hannah annoying, but my interest in her was all about Logan and the choices she represented for him; as a character in her own right she was pretty thin stuff. But I agree that Keith and Cliff and the best thing ever.
Hannah did serve a purpose for Logan's character arc, as you say - that whole Logan is the best boyfriend ever stuff was wearing on me, though. ;-) I'm just kind of glad that whole thing's over. :-)
It was a while after the episode before it occured to me that they hadn't caught the rapist. I know no spoilers about this, but I'd guess that plot point will be revisited next year, after virtually the entire cast unexpectedly enrolls at Hearst :)
I go back and forth about the rapist. I could easily see it being the creepy tour guide, but apparently he was a special guest star and was supposed to be clever instead of painfully dorky. So, I don't know.
But yeah, Veronica never figured it out -- she just proved it was probably not Troy.
