This is adorable! But with a little nugget of insight buried at the center.

But there were still those moments, where River looked at him and he felt unfinished.

Actually, that whole paragraph summed up their relationship beautifully. Well done!

I'm happy to hear that you feel that paragraph summed up their relationship well. I was a little uncertain about it when I wrote it, wondering if it was too out of the blue in a mostly humor piece, but I felt the story needed it. So I'm pleased to hear that you liked it.
