I have a SYNDROME!

So... when I went to bed last night I happened to see this commercial for some new drug... you know those commercials "Ask your doctor if represitol is right for you?" but they don't say what the symptoms are for the drug they're advertising? Well this commercial actually described the symptoms and what not... I have restless leg syndrome. It ( Read more... )

I've heard of restless leg syndrom. I think my ex had it (he told me about it). It seemed like he was running marathons as he attempted to sleep; even sometimes after it seemed he was out- his feet would be going. Best to watch it if it creates disruption in sleep. Isn't it an underlying cause of insomonia?

I've had insomnia in varying degrees since I was like 13, so who knows if the restless legs cause the insomnia, or if the insomnia causes the restless legs... they say it's worse the more tired you are... so... :) It doesn't really keep me up TOO badly at night, I just lay there for a while and eventually I'll fall asleep, but it does make it take longer for me to fall asleep... but ask Chris, I'm normally fine to be up the whole day after only 4 or 5 hours of sleep. When I'm especially tired and I don't have to get up the next day I'll sometimes sleep on the sofa just so that I won't wake/keep Chris up from fidgeting too much.

chicken? egg?
Ha, I was just going to say I heard exercise would help, but reading your post below, it doesn't sound like it does. But they always try to make exercise a cure-all, and there is no such thing. Maybe it's the type- like yoga instead of softball? who knows. I've always heard RLS was stress related, that your body is burning off energy.
I ENVY your ability to be well rested after such a small amount of sleep. I am grouchy, groggy (esp. in the afternoon) and my throat gets strained on so little sleep. What a wimp I am!

and I have a funny story from Miss Kitty's... it made me think "It's all fun and games until someone's skirt gets pulled up!" I promise I'll post it but I am sleepy now...

We have a couple of Yoga DVD's I think, maybe I should start doing yoga in the evening... I'm normally up for a while after Chris goes to bed, so it's not like it'll keep me up that late doing it... hmmm... that might not be a bad idea. :)

Ah well, for now I'm off to watch Rockstar:INXS (yes, I'm a junkie). :)

Well they say it's heridtary. If you were my neighbor we could go for walks at night to help alleviate the need to fidget... :) I found some website that gave little pointers for helping to reduce the urge to move your legs around, and they say that excersize before bed can help, but I've found that the more I walk during the day, the more I tend to fidget at night. When we have softball games (yeah, how butch am I? I play an organized sport!) I've noticed that it's worse that night when I try to sleep, and when we were in Seattle my feet were constantly twitchy.
