Don't tell me I've become that girl.

I love going to art museums. In a new city, aside from the shopping, the art scene is one of the first places I'll hit. I'm almost afraid to visit Paris, because I'll never want to leave the Louvre--I'll be dragged away from there, kicking, biting, and screaming. Americans really don't need another black mark on their record like that ( Read more... )

OH NO!! If I recall correctly the 2nd floor housed their amazingly impressive christian art collection which is my favorite "theme"

Oh, yes. It's absolutely lovely. I wanted to circumambulate their reconstructed cloister a few times, but damn! No time.

they do a really good job of recreating "enviornments" in that museum. Initially I was turned off to the whole thing but warmed up to it as my visit progressed.

If you haven't had the chance, you may or may not (depending on how much time you have available), go to the Mall down in Washington, D.C. if you're ever in the area. My girlfriend and I were in D.C. last July for a big conference and we wandered the vastness that is 'teh Mall'. I'm a big history buff anyway, and needless to say I almost made a spectacle of myself on several occasions. The really bad part was we stuck around after the conference a couple of extra days and we still didn't get to see everything that I wanted to see. I'm pretty sure my girlfriend was ready to hamstring me a couple of times due to my incessant desire to 'acquire' as much as I could in such a short amount of time ( ... )

I completely feel ya there. I've only been in the Art Institute of Chicago once, and only for a mere hour "passing through" on a scavenger hunt. I felt so low and completely ashamed. I love museums, and am appalled at how much I took them for granted when I lived in Chicago. There ain't crap in KY.
