I am as well. Maybe because I shy away from people who seem like conservative shitkickers, I honestly thought we were better than this.

I will never understand those people who are proud of their lack of education. There is just so much to learn, and it's all fascinating.

I feel like a lot of the Christian right actively frown on education. There's a reason why there's SO many Christian private schools. They want to control what, precisely, education is being received. They want to protect their kids from the world--aka anything that will make them think.

Fuck that, I want my kids to LEARN.

But what do I know, I'm a godless liberal heathen who's surely going to hell anyway.

Considering the list of people who are probably going to hell, I'd say it's a far better place to end up.

All my friends will be there according to the right-wingers. You're right.

absolutely! If I believed in hell I would probably agree with the statement, "You go to Heaven for the climate and Hell for the company."

But I don't, so I'm even less worried.

I think I've decided I don't believe in North Carolina either... it's added to the list of Mythical Places I Do Not Want to Go...

sadly, so is my own state of Texas

That is part of what breaks my heart. NC is so beautiful. And right now, people--rightfully--think it's ugly with hate. And I can't blame them, because I look around and see, holy shit, 60-odd percent of you voted against civil rights for your fellow human beings. Holy shit.

Don't worry, I know it is. It breaks my heart because I have seen how beautiful it can be.

It will be okay, we'll all get over our outrage and dismay. NC isn't the only state that's done this, they're just the most recently publicized. We all have to remember that 29 other states have done the exact same thing, just more quietly.
