I try to act excited, although possibly mention that while it's not personally exciting for me, but I am happy for them. This is, ofc course, assuming that I like them and am not in a horribly depressed mood.

Depends on if I like them. If I do, I'll act excited since I usually am for people if they're my friends.

If I barely know them, I'll just go "that's nice" and act nonchalant.

I don't mean spilling over with fake excitement. I mean being compassionate and kind enough to observe that someone is excited about something and to support their happiness regardless of whether you yourself are excited. I just don't think it takes that much energy to say, "Hey, that's great!" to someone.

Maybe I've been spending too much time idolizing Melanie Wilkes?
