I'm reading the second book of the "Twilight" series right now. I'm almost finished.
( Thoughts on the hype. Plot analysis, thus some spoilers, ahead. )

My students come in foaming at the mouth about these books, and I ask them if they've read Dracula yet. Or Carmilla, because before Stoker there was Le Fanu. They haven't read these. I tell them that if they will go read them, I will read Twilight, and we shall discuss vampires. I would like to see how impressed they are with Sparkle!Edward after reading Carmilla...kickass Victorian lesbian vampiress that she was. So far they have not stepped up. I consider the loss to be theirs rather than mine. ;)

I have not read Carmilla. I did not know there WAS such a thing as a Victorian lesbian vampiress. We must remedy this discrepancy, my Badger!
