like a diamond in the sky
Jessica/Onew. features bits and pieces of SME.
G; angst, fluff and happy!ending love. Predebut-postdebut
the melting of Jessica, induced (unconsciously) by Jinki and observed by Tiffany, Jonghyun and Kibum.
A/N: Ugh. Ref to Twinkle, Twinkle in the title. What do you guys think of a Krystal/Jessica sister!fic + SHINee? Also, comment and concrit after reading please! I will be sad if no one comments again like on the last fic :(
Jessica Jung is as hard and jaded as sixteen-year old girls come, giving him and everyone cold eyes, cold heart and cold shoulder. It's this business she's been in for too long, singing and dancing your heart out everyday until you can't feel it anymore. And if she's that screwed, well, she figures she will act that way and save the hassle (heartbreak) of getting close to anyone.
She shrugs it off when he smiles brightly at her day after day, because he does that to everyone. It doesn't even faze her when he gets put in the advance vocal class with her a month after he joins the company. What does cause her irritation though, is Lee Jinki holding open the door for Taeyeon and herself. Lee Jinki tripping over air and getting up with the same damn smile. Lee Jinki cracking stupid unfunny jokes that somehow make everyone laugh anyway. Lee Jinki singing, in that warm, dark voice.
Like chocolate, Tiffany had sighed. Snap out of it, she had replied. He's just casting a spell over all of you. The real Jinki is probably cold-hearted and calculating or something. She is only the slightest bit bothered when Tiffany raises an eyebrow and says, Oh, like you? She negates the words with a big hug and Jessica forgets about the incident two minutes later.
Then promptly is reminded of it when he comes into the practice room, toting a pile of lunchboxes and one gets put in front of her. Handing it back to him, (I didn't buy a lunch), he shakes his head and grins. Everyone needs to eat lunch. Don't worry- Oh! I remember, you don't like kimbap, right? Check to make sure I didn't give you one. Tiffany smirks at her.
He gives her his ice cream after the dance instructor tells her that debut is next week, you need to lose a few pounds fast.
She eats it anyway. Lets him walk with her until she's almost home. Smiles to herself when she sees SHINee's debut stage. Ignores Jonghyun and Key shrieking, The ice princess is melting! after Jinki tucks a flower behind her ear after they come off the stage and it stays there until the next schedule.
And she finds herself on the streets of Seoul at 4 in the morning under the fluorescent light of a street vendor. A container of hot dukbokki is being waved in front of her eyes (in a very familiar way) and Jinki drops down to the sidewalk beside her and they eat, comfortable in the noise of the city and their own silence.
A thought strikes her suddenly. "How?"
He blinks at her from under the Juliette bangs (messy, not in the just-styled way- just the way where it's been slept on too long in a van) "How what?"
She blinks back at him. "This," Waves her hands around. "I mean," Damn. Taeyeon is going to kill her when she discovers her empty bed. "You and me and-" It's not even a special occasion, for goodness sakes. "Like," At the very least, he could have chosen to sneak out and treat her to a meal after they had won Music Bank. "This," She finishes eloquently.
He shrugs. Smiles. One of those moments passes and the world shifts, out of focus.
"Do you believe in magic?" Now she's fighting for balance, has to right herself before everything collapses.
No. He's watching her. No. She takes a breath.
"No," Jinki moves in a flash and stuffs the last bit of rice cake into her open mouth; he giggles like a five year old, scampering off to avoid a scolding. Jessica watches him dance among the club kids and punks and tired businessmen, so obviously out of place and so happy.
Maybe.
