Not specifically a rec list or my favourites, but there's a few over here at Palelyloitering, and some shipwrecked stories if they count. They've not been updated for ages though. There's a Historical AU by Jane I think - erm... oh, A Madrigal I think is the one I'm thinking of, but that won't help, will it... Hah - I went and searched and searched for the Sarah K one, and then noticed that you've got it!
ETA - oh, they're not at sea, but I had Bodie telling a story about his days at sea in Just Enough Rope (probably doesn't count though *g*)
Thank you! Those lists really help. I am working on adding the links. What are your thoughts on what "counts" and what doesn't? I am inclined to throw out a wide net, display the whole catch, and if there are land creatures in it the discoverer will hopefully let us know. If that metaphor makes sense. But it's really difficult to determine - subcategories are needed, I think. For example, Sule Skerrie and The Merman - yes, absolutely involve the lads and the sea, but not *quite*!
I am finding my memory is so full of holes! I know some stories I really haven't read, but others I know I have read, and I can't remember them just the same... :(
I can't remember the titles (you might, though) but there's a story by Derry when they're playing lookout on a boat, spying on another boat and there's one by PFL and I'm sure I've read one in the last couple of years (a long story, might be BB) where Martell's involved and playing a reluctant host to Bodie and Doyle on his boat.
You have an amazing memory! Working on adding links to the post. The Derry story, which I had completely forgotten and had to look for, was "Trying to Understand." Thank you for the reccs! If you remember more... :)
Wow, who would have thought there would be so many, though, living on an island (no matter how big,) I suppose they'd have to end up on the water sometime. Oddly enough, the only ones that come to mind are the ones of them on the canals (though I can't think of the titles offhand. *g*)
